A Strategic Bitcoin Reserve: My Thoughts From the Bitcoin 2024 Conference
The Bitcoin 2024 conference is one of the most consequential events in Bitcoin's history, and it takes a period of reflection to separate the signal, from the political noise.
G’day Folks,
With the Bitcoin 2024 conference coming to a close in Nashville, there is a sense of meaningful change in the air. Without question, this was the largest, and likely most consequential Bitcoin conference that I have been to. We can get a sense of the scale solely based on the headline acts.
Over the span of two days, the checkonchain team had the privilege to watch:
Two US presidential candidates present their platform (RFK and DJT).
Senator Lummis with the paperwork for a US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve bill.
Edward Snowden via live-feed discussing the risks of AI and surveillance states.
Howard Lutnick from Cantor Fitzgerald eviscerate Tether Truther arguments.
Macro wizards like Luke Gromen, and James Lavish talking through their views on the global financial landscape.
Countless others, making for an all around great time, with new and old friends (including a few of our subscribers!).
In today’s post, I wanted to summarise my thoughts around the gravity, and implications of some of the headline events and themes of the weekend. When politicians are involved, I believe it requires a period of deeper thought and reflection to unravel the rhetoric, from the reality.
